Biography

Swedish lyric soprano Barbro Cítron is currently a master student at The Royal Danish Opera Academy with Susanna Eken and Anne Margrethe Dahl. She studied has her bachelors degree at The Royal Academy of Music, with Susanna Eken and Helene Gjerris and Hochsüle für Musik in Weimar with Prof. Michael Gehrke. Furthermore, she studied one year of masters with Tuva Semmingsen at The Royal Danish Academy of Music.

This season Barbro made her stage debut as the role as Flora in Benjamin Britten's The Turn of the screw, conducted by Robert Houssart and directed by Anthony Almeida at The Royal Danish Opera.

She is currently doing the roles Yinold (Pelleas et Melisande), Barbarina (Le nozze di Figaro), Sandman and Dew fairy (Hänsel und Gretel) at the Opera Academy. Moreover she's doing extracts from Despina (Don Giovanni) and Sophie (Werther). In coming season she debuts in the roles Tebaldo (Don Carlos) and Olga (Die Lustige Witwe) at the Royal Danish Opera.

During her studies Barbro has portrayed roles such as The Vixen(The cunnin little vixen), Echo (La Morte d’Orfeo) as well as Amor (Orfeo ed Eurudice), directed by Noa Naamat. Along side of her studies Barbro has been a part of Søholm Opera Young Artist where she has done Pop-up Opera with the role Zerlina (Don Giovanni) directed by Anne Sofie Keller, ensemble in Pagliacci and singing ensemble and covering the role Amahl in Amahl and the night visitors both directed by Natascha Metherell. Her acting is emotional and she has a colourful, energetic and luminous soprano voice with natural shimmer.
